Photography and The City
After the great success of the 2009 Visual Literacy Series – Staging, Manipulation and Photographic Truth, this year the Society will be holding two major events based on “Photography and the City”
The Documentary and Visual Journalism Group presents a documentary workshop:
“A Day in the Park”
As part of the RPS Photography and the City programme, the Documentary and Visual Journalism Group is delighted to announce a documentary workshop.
Led by Vanessa Slawson FRPS and Nick Scott FRPS, the workshop will briefly investigate the key components of documentary photography before participants are sent out into the field with a brief to shoot. Participants will shoot in a relatively small geographical area, where Vanessa and Nick will be on hand to provide guidance and advice throughout. At the end of the shoot there will be a short debrief and overview. Participants will then be invited to upload their images to a private online gallery for expert feedback and critique.
The shoot will take place on Remembrance Sunday in St James’s Park, where there will be lots of activity and interesting characters on the fringe of the main Remembrance Ceremony at the Cenotaph.
Date: 13th November 2011
Location: St James’s Park (Rendezvous point will be advised in confirmation emails)
Time: 09.00 to 16.00
