Meet at 10.15 inside the large marquee (more info later to participants)
This old-fashioned Black Country Boating Festival attracts historic narrow boats as well as modern ones. There will be stalls, and lots of 'boaty types'. A great opportunity for anyone interested in character shots and photo essays. Lots of fun and activity around the Canal banks as well as on the Canal itself. This is a festival which attracts up to 12000 visitors.
Mid afternoon there is a boat trip through the canal tunnels, taking in the caverns and underground AV shows. This takes approx 1.5 hours, including the bus trip back, and will cost in the region of £10. The tour is in an open boat and demonstrates how the old boats used to be ‘legged’ through the tunnels. The trip needs to be booked in advance and members are responsible for making their own bookings. Discreet photography is permitted in the tunnels, but in parts the light is very low.
Entry to the Canal Festival is free.
For those who don’t wish to go on the Boat Trip the Black Country Museum is close by. Cost of entry to the Museum is approx £14.00. and no advance booking is required.
The Festival organisers will appreciate any images you wish to share with them on the day.
