This course will lead you through the artistic processes designed to unleash your creative potential in the fields of macro and art photography. John will demonstrate the techniques and equipment required to produce high-quality macro and close-up images. He will review ways in which the manipulation and presentation of photographs can be used to enhance their artistic impact.

- Successful subjects for macro and art photography
- Use of light – natural, flash, studio
- Studio vs. field work
- Photoshop set up for art photography
- Key techniques for image manipulation
- Combining images and textures
- Presenting images for impact
About your tutor
John Humphrey is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society. He is an experienced photographer and presenter. His photography has featured in many exhibitions including the International Print and Projected Exhibitions of the Royal Photographic Society and the London Salon of Photography. Who is the course for?
The course is for anyone who is looking for new directions for their photography and who is looking to enhance their technical and creative skills. It assumes working knowledge of a compact or SLR camera, and basic familiarity with image processing software such as Photoshop.
What happens on the course?
The course is a stimulating combination of presentations, demonstrations and discussions. Delegates do not need to bring any equipment but are welcome to bring any photographs they would like to show and discuss. Please bring a packed lunch or use the OU café.
