In November 2015 Urbanicity was published. A photographic book showing sets of images taken by 16 members of RPS London Urban. Each set contained 8-10 images that portrayed members interest/view/perception of Urban London
My topic was lone individuals in the urban environment and two of my favourite images are shown.
Participating in the project was a great experience. From the initial meetings, discussing possible ideas for each individual’s project. Then numerous meetings to review and provide constructive criticism of each other's images. The Nikon School of Excellence provided independent assessment of most of the individual’s images prior to publication. And finally the exciting process of the preparation and printing of the book (A huge thanks to Jonathan Taylor)
We shall be looking to produce a second book by the end of the year if not certainly in the first quarter of 2017.
And I am very privileged to have been asked to steer the next group who will contribute to the publication of “Ubanicity 2” - title to be confirmed.
We shall be looking for fresh ideas and maybe something different from the norm which will make the new publication eclipse Urbanicity.
This will be a yearlong project which will consist of initial meetings, for those interested in contributing to the book, to formulating ideas for the publication. Once the plan has been finalised, we’ll be arranging workshops and feedback sessions.
If you’re interested in participating in Urbanicuty 2, join us on 25th February at the Crusting Pipe for an initial discussion (details above).
