Date: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June 2016 depending how many people book.

Meeting Place: Bridlington Harbour Car Park.

Time: We will meet at 5.30am in the car park at Bridlington Harbour next to the HUGE blue crane that lowers the boats in to the harbour and then we will take the short walk to board the boat. The boat will sail at 06:00hrs and we will arrive back approximately 10:00hrs then we will head up to Bempton Cliffs RSPB Reserve for 10.30am in which Steve Race will join us.

Subjects of Interest: Diving gannets from boat, there is also a chance of harbour porpoise, grey seal, possible dolphin sp, puffins, razorbills, guillemots, fulmars and kittiwakes.

Additional information: Diving gannet boat trip organised by Steve Race from Yorkshire Coast Nature, who is also an accomplished professional award winning wildlife photographer. The boat will leave Bridlington Harbour at 06.00hrs in which this will give us the best light conditions and the gannets should be at their most productive. The boat is limited to 11 participants on both days so booking through the leader is essential.

Steve will contact me early evening on the day before we sail to confirm sailing and following that I will then call you with the details. If by chance we do not sail due to bad sea conditions then the following two options will be offered: Option 1 - an alternative date to attend another boat trip, Option 2 - a full refund.

Please bring with you your camera, lenses, battery, memory cards and plenty of warm/waterproof clothing. Monopods are welcome but please do not bring a tripod. We will be chumming for diving gannets so I would recommend bringing a zoom lens such as either a 70-200mm or 100-400mm. The Gannets do come very close to the boat so I also advise bringing a short lens such as an 18-55mm or 24-105mm. There is a chemical camping toilet on board the boat however I do advise you to go to the toilet before our 4-hour journey if needed.

You can park your vehicle in the car park at the harbour where we will be meeting, however there is a daily parking charge of £5.40. For travel directions to Bridlington Harbour please click on the link:

In the event of bad weather on the Saturday the first 11 R.P.S Nature Group members to book will take priority on the Sunday.

Booking is essential

There is a visitor centre at Bempton Cliffs RSPB Reserve (YO15 1JF) which offers food, drink and toilet facilities.

Cost: Boat for diving gannets is £70.00 per person. Payment to be made by cheque or postal order made payable to ‘Yorkshire Coast Nature SR’ and sent to the leader by no later than Friday 15th April 2016.
