This month we take on a planned walk, not quite a street walk, but as it looks fun we will depart from our usual practice of visiting heavily populated areas just to see what the day will bring.
We will take the route of “The Line” which is the Meridian Line as it is plotted from East London through to the ‘O2’. Astute members will notice that this involves a river crossing which is always a challenge to the walker!
The walk is signposted both North / South or South / North but we will travel North to South simply because it gives us more options for those that might like to leave early or who cannot manage the entire walk. The walk is officially scheduled to take around 3 Hours but that is not including photography! Specific points of interest are the artworks at strategic points which you will find marked on the official map.
We start at Stratford Tube Station, walk via the official route to Star Lane DLR. Here we take the DLR service to Royal Victoria DLR station to continue the walk via the Emirates Airline. The route continues around the O2 after we ‘land’ allowing us to depart from North Greenwich Tube Station at the end.
For those not wishing to ‘fly’ there is a direct connection from Canning Town DLR via the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich to pick up the walk that way, or to depart at this point as you desire.
The public transport sections of the journey will require the usual TfL payment and the Airline Section requires a small premium over and above the Oyster charge.
