Note: this is an experimental alternative to our usual Sunday meeting
Meet (non members welcome) at Great Western Hotel by Swindon Station (I'll be there early) and I'll lead a walk around the Railway Quarter and Designer Outlet, ending back at the Great Western about 19:30-20:00, for beer/food etc (people buy their own) or just go home.
Lots of Victorian architecture, there's a National Trust place, some engineering stuff, some flowers and some hidden details (and lots of people) in the Designer Outlet (http://www.mcarthurglen.com/uk/swindon-designer-outlet/en/
- closes 20:00). I came back with 99 pics from a 2-hour walk. Also plenty of tearooms.
There'll be a mini comp - I've already taken some pics en route; walkers try to spot what I shot and take a snapshot of the same subject. Winner is whoever duplicates the most of my pics. There will be a small prize.
Alternative activity: people can just wander around anywhere in Swindon by themselves (I'll prepare a list of attractions), any time that day, visit Steam Museum etc. Just "login" by sending me an email or calling in at the Great Western before 17:30. There'll be another informal comp, open to both groups (and non-members), for the best photos taken on the day (judged by membership), on the RPS-WR Flickr page.
