Associateship Sections -

Conceptual and Contemporary: photography which explores, defines, illustrates or evaluates issues through photographic images.

The day will be an open session and spectators are welcome to attend.

This advisory day will be for prints only.

Attending for Advice: On arrival please register and then place your panel safely on the desks to the side of the room. You will have the opportunity to receive guidance on your proposed panel and how to prepare it. The panel assessors will introduce the advisory day and show examples of successful panels.

You will then be invited to display your images for comment. As a participant, you should bring your prints that you consider could form the basis for a panel, along with a number of spares. Ideally prints will be mounted, but there is no need to mount your images at this stage.

Please bring a hanging plan at A4 size and for ARPS, also a statement of intent to read out. Before you attend please make sure you have read the Distinctions Handbook which contains important information on requirements, categories and criteria regarding the panels. This can be downloaded from the RPS website www.rps.org/distinctions. It is advisable to bring along 5-10 spare images.

Spectators: Spectating is a good way to learn about the distinctions system and to see the advice given. Please do not bring any of your own images to the event on the off-chance that you can receive advice. Only panels that have been booked can be assessed.

To book a place for assessment please book either The RPS member or non member rate whichever is relevant to you.
