SURVIVING TRAUMA – PAST AND PRESENT

LECTURE BY BILL EDWARDS

This lecture looks first at some of the

different Medical approaches developed

over time before and after the advent of

Lister’s antiseptic techniques and the use

of anaesthesia. Then secondly a look at the

various injuries that can be sustained in road

traffic accidents and how modern medicine

tries to cope with the escalating degree of

physical trauma that can be sustained. By

the nature of this lecture many of the clinical

images are very graphic.
