Guided walk – Hadrian’s Wall – Sunday, 10th September 2017
Geoff Chrisp is leading a walk supported by Marj Baillie LRPS along part of Hadrian’s Wall and points of interest will include the iconic Sycamore Gap, Steel Rigg, Crag Lough. The excellent views from north of the wall towards the Whin Sill are not seen by many.
It will commence from Steel Rigg car park at 10-30am. £4.00 car parking charge at Steel Rigg.
A 5-mile walk. (Ascent 166 metres) Fairly strenuous, for good walkers. Walking boots, warm walking clothes in layers and waterproofs are essential. Steep ascents and descents along the Wall path. It can be wet underfoot north of the Wall. There is no shelter if it was a wet day.
Please bring a packed lunch and drinks.
The Sill Discovery Centre should be open by September if people wanted to visit afterwards.
As we all know, the British weather can be very unpredictable so please wear or bring clothing suited to the likely weather conditions (and remember sun cream!).
Also, please ensure that your equipment is carried in suitably waterproof and padded bags.
The Society will not accept responsibility for any accident, loss, injury or damage resulting from an accident or from inappropriate dress or equipment.
