Have you an idea or story and a set of photos for a photobook? This workshop is for you if you wish to learn how to turn this into reality.
The workshop will help you create a photobook based on your images. It will cover:
- reviewing a number of highly-regarded photobooks and examining why they have been successful.
- identifying the activities needed to create a successful photobook
- hands-on working with pre-prepared prints made by attendees; editing, sequencing and considering page layouts, plus text and typology requirements.
Prior to the workshop you will be able to send up to 150 of your images to Brian who will help you edit them down to about 70. You will then come to the workshop with small prints (10x15cm suggested size) of these 70 images. You will send your images plus a short text on your story or theme to Brian at least two weeks before the workshop using Flickr or Dropbox with images annotated for identification.
Please note that you will not use computers on this workshop. We will be working hands-on to design the editing, sequencing and layout of the book which you can then take away and use with any software to produce the final printed book.
This workshop is led by Brian Steptoe FRPS, a publisher, an expert in the creation of the photobook and experienced photobook workshop tutor.
