This month, the plan is to visit ‘Angel’, the heart of Islington, one of London’s most diverse Boroughs!   In particular, we will visit:

  • Chapel Market (one of London's oldest street markets)
  • Culpepper Community Garden, and
  • Camden Passage

Some may wish to leave the walk at/after Camden Passage, but for those who wish to continue, we will head along Regent’s Canal from Copthorne Gardens to City Road Basin where there is usually a great deal of ‘London Life’ to be seen.  There are many cafes in and around the Angel, or we may continue to "The Narrowboat" - a nice canalside pub..

Here are a few more details about the area to whet your appetite.:

Camden Passage is described as “a picturesque care free london street filled with antique, vintage and contemporary shops, outdoor markets, cafes, restaurants and bars.  More details on the website, here: https://www.camdenpassageislington.co.uk/

Culpepper Community Garden is an award-winning community garden which is managed by and for the local people.  More details, here :  http://www.culpeper.org.uk/projinstall/

Chapel Market is an old-fashioned street market selling fruit, veg and fish, as well as bargain household goods and cheap clothing.   Try this website for a little more information:  https://www.timeout.com/london/shopping/chapel-market-1

City Road Basin, Islington.   Ten years ago, City Road Basin was almost derelict but is now being regenerated with canal side houses, businesses and a landscaped park.  https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/places-to-visit-pdf/Islington_City_Road_Basin.pdf

Put the date in your diaries and come along!

As Norman is unlikely to be able to join us on this occasion, this event will fall under the banner of a "Street walk" as oppose to a "workshop" because there will be no formal photographic instruction. Having said that, there are usually experienced members of the group willing to offer advice and guidance on request.

Cancellation policy

This event is free, but numbers are limited. If you have booked a place and find you are unable to come, please e-mail the even organizer so that someone on the waiting list can have your place.

No special provision. This is a street event which is entirely outdoors, involving travel between the various locations. You must come prepared for the weather and wearing good walking shoes - or boots.
