There are many interpretations of what Documentary Photography actually is, so the talk will start with a look at some classic documentary images, and how this type photography sits alongside other types of photography such as street, photojournalism, travel etc. 

Janey will be showing a selection of her work looking at various aspects of British Life - from horse racing and pigeon fanciers to the fish auction at Grimsby and the woollen mills of West Yorkshire. She will also explain how “the story behind the story” and her approach to managing projects.

Over lunch there will be an opportunity to look at some of the magazines that Janey has produced, plus a number of classic books on Documentary Photography.

At the end of the afternoon there will be an opportunity for delegates to show some of their own Documentary PDI images.
