FULLY BOOKED BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR NAME TO BE PUT ON THE RESERVE LIST IN CASE OF CANCELLATIONS, PLEASE E-MAIL US BY FOLLOWING THE LINK BELOW.  .IF THERE IS SUFFICIENT DEMAND, WE WILL BE HAPPY TO RUN THIS WALK AGAIN.

Our walk this month will take us from Westminster Station to Battersea Power Station, mostly along the Thames Path.

We will meet at the exit to Westminster Tube Station and set off at 10.00am heading south over Westminster Bridge, where we will mingle with tourists who in turn will be photographing iconic views of the Houses and Parliament and the London Eye.

We will head west along the embankment, with the Palace of Westminster opposite, meeting people along the way.  You will be able to view and photograph the relatively recent monument to the Special Operations Executive, if you so wish.

We will continue past Lambeth Palace, a Grade 1 listed building and the residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury for over 800 years, and then under Lambeth Bridge, subsequently passing the International Maritime Organisation and the HQ of the London Fire Brigade (until 2007).  We may pause by the statue of Lord Basaveshawara – a 12th century Hindu philosopher, who preached the ideals of simple living and equality for all.

We have to skirt round the MI6 building because the Thames Path at that point is diverted due to Thames Tideway works, but at Vauxhall Bridge we will stop and regroup for coffee either at Pret-a-Manger or, going down the river a little further, at The Riverside – a pub on, well, the Riverside!

After our coffee break, we will be able to see the new US Embassy Building, before continuing on to our final destination which will be Battersea Power Station.   It is now possible to walk through the development to the River, via the new, already occupied areas, shops and cafes.  The section by the river is a delight with infinity pools providing intriguing reflections and great views of the restored towers and works in general.

For those who wish to do so, we plan to have lunch at the Duchess Belle, 101 Batttersea Park Road.  This is close to Battersea Park and Queenstown Road Stations and is a short bus ride back to Vauxhall/Waterloo and or Clapham. Some may prefer to finish their walk at Chelsea Bridge and take a bus to Sloane Square, Victoria or Marble Arch.

The full distance of the walk is 5.7 km but it is possible to cut his down to 4.2 km by taking the courtesy bus from Nine Elms Lane into the Power Station and back, which some may prefer.

The weather forecast for the day is "Light cloud with a gentle breeze” (according to BBC Weather https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643743?day=1) with a slight chance of rain – so please dress appropriately.
