Rachael Talibart - 'The Limitless Shore' followed by the Millennium Cup Competition for Prints

Morning: The Limitless Shore. Rachael grew up by the coast and, even when life drew her inland, she has always felt the sea tugging her back. Rachael loves the coast’s simplicity. Long shutter speeds or techniques such as intentional camera movement accentuate this simplicity by smoothing out motion. Alternatively, when the winds howl, there are images to be had using fast shutter speeds to capture every droplet of the raging sea. On quiet days, there are pictures in the details; nature’s own works of art are strewn along the tide-line, just waiting to be discovered. If you are willing to experiment, the possibilities are endless.

We are lucky, living in the British Isles, because we are rarely more than a day-trip from the coast. Even if the weather lets you down, a day spent by the sea is never wasted. Instead, it fuels the imagination, and who knows where that might lead.

In this talk, Rachael will share her approach to coastal photography and reveal why choosing to shoot only at the coast has, in fact, expanded the scope of her image making.

Afternoon:  The Millennium Cup Competition for Prints which will be judged by Rachael Talibart. Competition details here

Rachael Talibart is a former lawyer turned professional coastal photographer.
Much of her early childhood was spent at sea. This has left her with a life-long fascination for the ocean in all its forms. For Rachael, nothing beats a day on an empty shore, the wilder the weather the better.
Rachael is owner of f11 Workshops, providing photography day tours and workshops in Surrey and Sussex and she also leads residential workshops for international fine art workshops and holidays business, Ocean Capture. Her photographs have been published in books and frequently appear in print and online magazines. Her limited edition prints have been exhibited widely in the UK as well as Barcelona and New York, and appear in private collections in the UK and USA. She writes for Outdoor Photography Magazine and is on the judging panel for the prestigious Outdoor Photographer of the Year competition. In 2016, she won the Sunday Times Magazine award in Landscape Photographer of the Year and in 2017 she won the Classic View category in the same competition.
