Walk and Talk with Curator Professor Mark Rawlinson - Sugar Paper Theories
Curator Dr Mark Rawlinson will talk about the multiple layers of meaning in the exhibition; the well-trod path between photography and truth, and the ways in which Sugar Paper Theories interrogation of the archive repeatedly exposes issues of doubt, anxiety, and the malleability of memory.


Mark Rawlinson
Mark Rawlinson is Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Nottingham. He has written widely on American art, photography, and visual culture, and has curated several exhibitions, including And Now it's Dark: American Night Photography (2015) and Homage to the Bauhaus: The Kirkland Collection (2019).

Bristol Temple Meads is a 30-minute walk to Paintworks.
Busses running from Bristol Temple Meads to Paintworks are: 1, 178, 349 or the X39, but please check before leaving.

If you need to bring your car and don’t want to use the Park and Ride Buses, you can book a place to park at a nearby supermarket using this link

You can also park all-day for £5 at Arnos Manor.  Visitors will need to go to the hotel reception to purchase a ticket to display on their windscreen. 








Cancellation policy

Cancellation policy Please inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend an event as it is not possible to refund any cancellation or transfer to another less than 14 days prior to course start date. The Society reserves the right to cancel a event 7 days prior to its start date - please check your hotel and travel cancellation policy as this may be affected.
