This workshop is for anyone who wants to know what it’s like to be a fashion photographer. Attendees will learn lighting techniques that can be applied to fashion or creative portraiture. You will learn how to bring out the best in clothes as well as creating dramatic lighting setups. You will also be guided through how to use studio flash lighting – as well as how to emulate studio lighting with off-camera flash units.
Creative Fashion:
Attendees will be guided through the lighting principles for fashion photography, then work in a studio with a professional model. There will be extensive photography time with multiple sets available to create distinctive and creative fashion images.
Figure Movement Study
An important part of fashion photography is being able to freeze movement. Attendees will be shown the principles and theory of movement photography then have the opportunity to take their own shots using studio flash and capturing motion blur using second curtain flash and continuous lighting.
Evaluation
During each session attendees images will be evaluated on the spot. Those who wish to have them looked at afterwards can submit them for a critique at the end of the workshop.
What to bring
A SLR or DSLR camera
If your camera is not a true SLR with changeable lenses, then please check with us before hand.
The camera must take a standard hot-shoe attachment
Your camera manual
Your flash manual (if you have one)
For this course you must either attend the Introduction to Studio Portraiture course, or have some experience in using studio flash and know your camera can work with studio flash.
It may help if you bring (but not essential):
Your own camera flash unit (i.e. speedlight or other make)
A tripod
A laptop to review your work
