Lecturers
- Dr Guy J Brown FRPS
Guy has been making photographs for more than 25 years both in the darkroom and digitally. He is principally a monochrome worker but has broad interests that include pinhole, high dynamic range [HDR] panoramic, Polaroid manipulation and alternative processes. In one lecture Guy will concentrate on how to achieve digital monochrome prints of darkroom quality and in his second lecture he will talk about HDR digital photography. - Iain McGowan FRPS
Iain is well known for his sensitive and atmospheric interpretation of the British landscape and has published several books on the subject. He is also an exponent of the composite image method of presentation, first explored by Hockney, which in one simple collection shows a range of colour, form, texture and mood of a sunject. In 1998 together with Hugh Milsom Iain set up a programme of workshops which he still leads in various parts of the U.K. Members from the region have joined him in Scotland and Eire with great success. Iain is a member of Arena. - Ron Henry ARPS
Ron’s interest in photography goes way back to his schooldays but his practical photography stems from competitions in the latter days of Newcastle’s old WMCA Photographic Society. After seeing Michael Tickner’s Dioporama in the early 1970’s he became besotted with audio visual, devising and building many strange gadgets to pursue his hobby. For 20 years his hobby became his business as he organised conferences and seminars worldwide, often programming 20 projector presentations. On retirement Ron re-joined Gosforth Camera Club in time for the digital revolution to revitalise an enthusiasm (which his wife calls an obsession) for AV. He gained an RPS Associateship in AV in 2007 and after many years of making programmes to please clients, he now produces AV’s on any topic which takes his fancy.
