The use of infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) photography in medicine has been well documented with researchers and photographers providing a good overview of developments and applications, however their work covers mainly film based technologies.
With the advent of electronic and subsequent digital imaging, the clinical photographer has the potential to obtain IR and
UV images more readily. Before considering the clinical utility of digital SLR’s it is first necessary to select appropriate equipment. This is a brief introduction into the world of digital IR and UV capture and its associated equipment, materials and methods.
