This two day event is based in Northamptonshire, and will combine two strands of interest in the group - archaeology and our built heritage.

On the Saturday, members will make visits to buildings of interest in the Northampton area - these will include some of the local churches. Northamptonshire contains good examples of almost every style of church architecture from early Saxon to the 20th century.

On the Sunday a visit has been arranged to the archaeological dig at Piddington, a few miles from Northampton. This is a Roman site, which has been investigated for a period each summer for many years. We will be able to visit and photograph the site, and will also have access to the interesting museum in the village which displays the finds from the site. Additionally, some of the artefacts in the museum will be available for photography. This is being arranged by Len Johnson LRPS, an active archaeologist and photographer on the site over many years.

For those wishing to just make a day outing on the Sunday, we will be meeting outside Piddington Church at 1030. Piddington is about 4 miles south-east of Northampton, just off the road from Hardingstone (Northampton) to Newport Pagnell.

Members are responsible for making their own arrangements for accommodation on Friday and Saturday nights, but suggested locations will be supplied on request so as many as possible of the members are based together. Arrangements can be made for lunchtime meals on the Saturday and Sunday, and for a meal on the Saturday evening.

Additionally there will be a charge of £3.25 for entry to the Piddington museum on Sunday.

Members are responsible for making their own transport arrangements between venues during the course of the weekend
