The Group has arranged various visits in Paris over the weekend of 14th and 15th January 2011. There will be visit to the Musee Albert Kahn which houses the world's largest collection of autochromes, approx 70,000 on the afternoon of the 14th.  Numbers for this visit are very limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.  On the Saturday, 15th, morning there will be a guided tour of the exhibition " Calotype en France 1840 - 1860" at the Bibliotheque Nationale followed by an opportunity in the afternoon to see more of the vast collection held by the Bibliotheque.  There will, of course, be opportunities to see other exhibitions etc., while in the city.

It is planned to arrange a group dinner on the Saturday evening for those who wish this. Members will be responsible for making their own travel and accommodation arrangements. However it may be possible to put those members travelling from the same part of the country in touch with each other for convenience and company when travelling.
The programme is as below:
Friday 14th January  - Meet at 2.00 p.m. at the Musee Albert Kahn for a behind the scenes visit followed by an introduction to their database and then a guided tour of their current exhibition "Japan".  Behind scenes limited to 10/12 with preference given to Historical Group members and on first come, first served basis.  Guided tour open to anyone who wishes to join. There is also a superb and quite large Japanese garden behind the Musee which is well worth a visit.  Finish about 4.30/5.00 p.m.

Saturday 15th January - Meet at the Bibliotheque Nationale, Rue de Richelieu at 10.30 for a guided tour of their current exhibition on French Calotypists with Sylvie Aubenas, Director of Prints and Photographs.  Followed by an opportunity to see some more early French photography from the Bibliotheque's vast collection.  Meet for dinner in the evening - venue to be agreed.

There are also exhibitions at the Jeu de Paume - Kertesz, Grand Palais , Champs Elysees - Monet , Cartier -Bresson Fondation - David Goldblatt and the European House of Photography - Work from their archives, Paris Match Journalism Awards and Marc Riboud plus other galleries.  Members can make their own arrangements depending on personal circumstances and interests.  Contact me for further details.
