This course will lead you through the artistic processes designed to unleash your creative potential in the fields of macro and art photography. John Humphrey FRPS will demonstrate the techniques and equipment required to produce high-quality macro and close-up images. He will review ways in which the manipulation and presentation of photographs can be used to enhance their artistic impact.

Topics will include
• Macro lenses and accessories
• Successful subjects for macro and art photography
• Use of light – natural, flash, studio
• Studio vs. field work
• Photoshop set up for art photography
• Ten key techniques for image manipulation
• Combining images and textures
• Frames, mounts, borders and edges
• Prints, books, albums and portfolios

About your tutor
John Humphrey FRPS is an experienced photographer and presenter. His photography has featured in many exhibitions including the International Print Exhibition of the Royal Photographic Society and the London Salon of Photography. Some of his work can be viewed on the website www.johnhumphrey.co.uk

Who is the course for?
The course is for anyone who is looking for new directions for their photography and who is looking to enhance their technical and creative skills. It assumes working knowledge of a compact or SLR camera, and some familiarity with image processing software such as Photoshop.

What happens on the course?
The course is a stimulating combination of presentations, demonstrations and discussions. A macro photography set-up will give delegates hands-on experience of macro techniques during the day.

What to bring?
Nothing, apart from a packed lunch if you prefer rather than using the local amenities.
