A DAY WITH STEVE CAPLIN

Steve Caplin is a freelance photomontage artist and author whose work appears regularly in national and international newspapers and magazines. He is the author of several books on Photoshop, including How to Cheat in Photoshop, 100% Photoshop, and Art & Design in Photoshop.
This lively, entertaining day will feature a photomontage illustration created from photographs taken at the scene, in which we'll look at the techniques involved in combining images to create effective montages. It will cover layer masks, light modes and advanced blending to show how we can make images from very different sources look as if they all belong together.
The day will also feature an interactive discussion about the nature and ethics of manipulating photographs. Is there any such thing as a true, objective image? At what point does the photographer cross the line between what's acceptable and going too far? Is what we do morally justifiable?
There will also be an extended question and answer session, in which we'll look at some of the best new features in Photoshop CS5 and deal directly with problems and issues faced by members of the audience. If you've ever got stuck when working in Photoshop, this is the time to get your questions answered.
