Retro Glamour Pin-Up Photography Workshop Studio Day in the style of the famous 1950’s glamour pin-up artists George Petty & Gil Elvgren

Come and join us for the day at this fantastic opportunity to photograph some of the country’s leading Retro models  Nikkia Sabblier and Leah Axl. Both models have an extensive retro wardrobe, hair styling, look and attitude for this style of photography. We will pre-plan a number of sets for you based on the most typical George Petty & Gil Elvgren style & look, and attempt to use the studio props to mimic some of the famous works of the two Pin-up artists. Naturally we will not be in a position to completely replicate these styles and looks, but we will do our best. The background scenes for most of the George Petty & Gil Elvgren works range from basic one colour or two to fairly complex scenes. Naturally we cannot replicate these; hence everything will be shot against a white background so that you have the choice to drop whatever you wish on the background in Photoshop after the event.
 
We will split you into two groups of 7 photographers, and we will utilise two studios, with different lighting, sets, models and wardrobe. We will rotate the groups throughout the day so that everyone shoots each of the four sets and models dressed in different wardrobes. The leader for group one in studio one will be Simon Walden the resident photographer at Cheltenham Film and Photographic studios, the leaders for group two in studio two will Mike Jones & Peter Hartland.

So that all photographers get an equal chance to photograph and enjoy the day we are limiting the total number of delegates to 14. Naturally with such low numbers, the need to cover the costs of Studio hire, model fees, props and lunch, means the cost will be £95 each. Surveys are indicating that we will get a fair amount of interest for this workshop therefore, if you miss a booking for this event do not worry. We will create a waiting list and simply run another workshop if interest runs as high as expected.
 
Equipment:- A monopod or tripod is optional but not essential,  they will limit your movement, the studio flash will freeze the scene for you and render a sharp image. Any digital SLR body with the ability to operate in manual mode, the majority of the scenes and studio lighting will be set for a shutter speed of 1/125 sec, F8 aperture at 200 ISO. As for lenses, your cameras standard lens will render some good images, if you have already purchased a bespoke portrait lens for your camera i.e. 70mm or 80mm bespoke portrait lenses then clearly they will render a better image than your standard lens.  The important thing to remember with equipment is not to get too hung up over the getting the exact equipment.
