MORNING: GETTING THE COLOUR RIGHT
Peter Lovelock of Colour Confidence

During this talk we will explore how to take control, and maintain mastery of colour from capture right through to print. We will understand how the eye 'sees' colour; control what happens at capture; give recommendations for settings in key programs; and reduce the stress caused by getting prints back that are just 'not quite right'. We will cover many topics including the use of profiles, how, why and when it is best to make use of them.Free tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day. Bring a pack lunch.

AFTERNOON: USING NIK SOFTWARE IN ANGER
Peter Lovelock of Colour Confidence

Here we will investigate and understand the origins of the software and how to control and utilise the 'U-Point' control system. We will look at each of the six plug-ins in detail - from noise reduction to colour effects, HDR technology to sharpening (a difficult subject at the best of times!) and show how to bring structure to your images both in colour and creating stunning black and white images.

About the speaker: Gaining a City & Guilds qualification in Photography, whilst working in the reprographics department of a large technical college, gave Peter Lovelock a unique insight into both the capture and production side of the industry. Following a brief spell as main photographer, he moved on into other avenues ending up working for the Tecno Retail Group as manager of the Fox Talbot branch in the Strand. After many years of capturing images both personally and professionally, a move to KJP (now Calumet) enabled him to use his knowledge to become a key part of the Digital Solutions team and later European Training Manager. Peter is currently employed by Colour Confidence, one of the UK's fastest growing technology-led distributors, and is part of the team that de-mystifies colour management and evangelises about the Nik software plug-ins.
