The Digital Photo-Book: how to make your own book with Blurb
With the rapid rise in popularity of on-demand printing services such as Blurb.com, photographers can now produce eye-catching photobooks and exhibition catalogues for as little as £10.
Workshop content
Over the course we will sequence a selection of your images and start to design into a book using Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom together with Blurb’s easy to use BookSmart layout application. You will learn about page layout including captions and cover design and examine different paper qualities, book formats and costs. We will also use a color managed workflow to ensure you get the best possible end result.
At the end of the course
This workshop is sponsored by Blurb, who will provide your first book up to the value of £29.99 excluding postage and packing
What you need to bring along
80-100 images at 300ppi saved as RGB Tiff’s. Black and white photographers should save their files as RGB’s rather than greyscales. A USB pen drive will be useful for transporting your work.
What level is the course?
You will need to have some knowledge of Photoshop but no experience of using book design software is necessary.
Either bring a packed lunch or use local facilities.
The tutor
The workshop will be lead by photographer and author Tim Daly. Tim is a contributor to many photography magazines including the British Journal of Photography, Black and White Photography, Photo-District News. His book, Creating Digital Photobooks is published by Argentum.
On applicable workshops the RPS uses an Epson Stylus Photo R3000 printer
