On Monday 20th August, we have arranged a morning's photography of the interior of Knole House, Henry VIII's one-time palace, including some areas not normally open to visitors. Meet in the house car park at 9.50 a.m.; the visit will last from 10.00 to 12.30, following which members will be free to spend time in the adjoining park. Fee £12 per person.

Knole House (National Trust) is one of the great houses of England. Surrounded by an extensive deer park open to visitors, its Jacobean facade makes a fine sight as one approaches from the nearby town of Sevenoaks. Dating from 1456 when acquired by Archbishop Bourchier, it has been owned by the Sackvilles for much of its life.

With wonderful staircases, chimneypieces, furniture, art and silver amongst its many sights, Knole is a treasure house of Elizabethan and Jacobean craftsmanship.

The house is exceptionally large, famously having 365 rooms and 7 courtyards, but only a few of these are open to the public. Although the National Trust has relaxed its blanket ban on photography inside its properties, a ban on photography still applies inside Knole. This visit is an opportunity to see and photograph inside the house when it is closed to the public, and also to access some rooms not normally open to visitors.

Please note that numbers may be limited, and that in view of the special arrangements, the cost of £12 applies to all, including members of the National Trust.
