A treat indeed for those who enjoy photographing architecture & cityscapes, and fancy spending time inside Nottingham's premier listed buildings.

Designed for DSLR users who enjoyed photographing architecture and would like to consolidate their skills, applying them to individual buildings in detail. Using listed buildings in the city of Nottingham, with an especial focus on Cecil Howitt's classic 1920's Council House, we shall see how a Martine tackles a specific case study, one she filmed with the BBC in 2007, highlighting the structure, light & detail to create sumptuous pictures.

 The day includes:

  • The opportunity to shoot the beautiful period interiors of The Council House as our case study.
  • A chance to use proper architectural perspective control lenses (Canon & Nikon fit only).
  • 'Hero’ shots and how to spot them.
  • The secrets of light inside and out and controlling colour balance.
  • The use of Photoshop for architectural shots with tips on the best correction techniques for those without perspective control lenses.
  • City dusk shooting for winter itineraries

On this itinerary, we have the opportunity to explore the stunning listed period interiors of The Council House, including a chance to shoot the ballroom, inner dome and fine council chambers. This building has just celebrated its 80th anniversary and this is a chance to photograph areas not normally visited by the public. These lively courses are based in The Georgian gem- The Bromley House Library, where we meet for the day's briefing.

Your Tutor
Since graduating from the Surrey Institute of Art in 1990 Martine has specialised in architectural photography. Over the last 22 years she has run a successful business working for a variety of organisations including architects, construction companies, interior designers and advertising agencies. Her work has been published in many international books and journals. www.builtvision.co.uk

Refreshments are provided in the morning and afternoon breaks. Lunch is not included but there are numerous eateries in the city centre where we may take a break.

ACCESS
Clients with special needs or requirements must advise the RPS before the event so that appropriate measures can be taken. There is wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities at some of our training venues, but courses including outdoor activity are likely to encounter steps, gradients and other physical barriers. Often old listed properties do not have lifts and certain shot viewpoints may involve using several flights of stairs. Further details can be obtained from the RPS office and should be discussed before the event.
