The Watercress Line is one of a number of preserved steam railways operating in the South of England, running 10 miles from Alresford to Alton in Hampshire.

On the day of our visit two locomotives will be in steam and running the passenger service, which also calls at two intermediate stations, Ropley, and Medstead & Four Marks, The engine shed is at Ropley, and Medstead & Four Marks is a country station at the summit of the line, once the highest point on the south-east's rail network.

The journey offers view of fine countryside, with the engines working hard up the steep gradients, and there are a range of photographic opportunities at the various stations. Catering is available on the stations.

We will meet at Alresford Station 1030. There is no formal programme, but we usually arrange to meet up for refreshments during the day. Information and support notes will be provided to help you get the best out of the day, including information on engines in steam and operational arrangements, and photographic opportunities on the railway.
