Ebernoe Common is one of the country's finest ancient mixed woodlands, with a long and rich history, including brick-making (a fine restored kiln and brickshed are well worth a visit). It has a very large fungus list, including some extremely rare species. In a good year it is hard to walk through the woodland withour treading on specimens. In other years, very few specimens can be found, so, as always, it a matter of luck.
The wood can get very wet and muddy in places so good waterproof footwear is essential.
