Visit to Ely Cathedral

The first outing of 2011 is an opportunity to photograph one of England's great mediaeval cathedrals, set on firm ground above the surrounding fenland, and visible from afar. Notable features include the 12th century Norman nave, the beautiful carving and arcades of the 14th C Lady Chapel and one of the wonders of mediaeval church building, the 14th C octagon which replaced the earlier (collapsed) Norman tower above the transept.
