The Royal Meteorological Society and the Royal Photographic Society announced the winners of the 2016 Weather Photographer of the Year on 10 September at the RMetS's Amateur Meteorological Conference in Reading.

This year the selectors were: BBC weatherman Peter Gibbs; Matt Clark, the editor of the RMetS Weather magazine; photographer Tim Rudman FRPS; the Chief Executive of the Royal Meteorological Society Professor Liz Bentley; and the Royal Photographic Society's Chief Executive Dr Michael Pritchard FRPS.
Following the Reading launch the exhibition will be shown at the following venues:
Manchester: Into the Blue, 25th–29th October 2016
Hull: Hymers College, Hull City of Culture 2017, 7th–18th November 2016
