Bacteria on the Hands

Bacteria on the Hands

Control of bacteria is critical in many situations, such as in hospitals and in food preparation. Special antibacterial gels are used to allow frequent cleaning, but they have to be applied correctly. Here, a subject has used the gel in a haphazard manner. A special reveal solution has subsequently been applied that causes the parts of the hand still containing bacteria to glow brightly when illuminated by ultraviolet light. Images such as this can be used to train medical staff and others in the correct use of antibacterial gels, preventing the spread of bacterial diseases and infections.
