Air Purification

Air purification

Tiny droplets of water in air conditioning or humidifying systems provide an ideal opportunity for bacteria and other pathogens to grow. Dangerous infectious conditions such as Legionnaire’s Disease can hide in poorly maintained systems in hotels, warehouses and climate-controlled factories. A combination of ultraviolet lamps and physical filters can make such systems safe. The lamps emit short wavelength UV-C light that is absorbed by the pathogen’s DNA and renders it inactive. The lamps are made using a special quartz glass. This prevents the emission of vacuum UV wavelengths (VUV) which can cause oxygen molecules to combine to form ozone, a pollutant at ground level.
