Domestic Heat Loss

Domestic heat loss

Combination of images of a house in snow taken in thermal infrared (left) and visible light. The infrared image shows infrared light being emitted by heat sources and is a useful tool for studying domestic insulation. Here the temperature shown by the infrared light is colour coded from black and magenta (coolest) to yellow and white (hottest). The image clearly shoes how windows and doors in this property are the main sources of heat loss.
