Exploring the Photographic Abstract
1st June - 29th June 2011

Being a member of Brighton and Hove Camera Club opened Priscilla’s eyes to a broad range of traditional and wonderful subjects and she felt the need to distort, add strange colours, create transparency sandwiches (now called digital layers) and explore ideas.  Achieving her FRPS with a panel which was bordering on the abstract (Flowers in Flight) gave Priscilla the confidence to pursue this way of thinking.

For her Fenton House Exhibition Priscilla Thomas states “I have avoided tree bark/sandscapes and the like because they have been photographed so extremely well and profusely.  My aim is to produce an image which would not be visible to the naked human eye without the facility of macro lenses, extension tubes and bellows which allow access to another world of images.  I find it a eureka moment when I discover a strange bird in a smudge of paint”.
