THE ROYAL PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY UNVEILS WINNERS OF DIGITAL AUDIO VISUAL YOUTH COMPETITION

The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) has announced the winners of its innovative new audio visual youth photography competition – IRIS-25 (The International Review of Images with Soundtrack for Under 25 year olds).

New this year, the competition is aimed at young people under the age of 25.  Entries have been received from all over the world, including France, Cyprus, Germany and New Zealand.

IRIS-25 looks at the art of audio-visual, providing a means for young people to creatively link music, narrative and visual images.  Focusing on setting still images as a sequence to music, entries featured classic, ambient music right through to modern day chart songs.

Maureen Albright ARPS, organiser, IRIS-25 comments; “IRIS-25 promotes and encourages the interest and growth of Digital Audio Visual Photography among young people, highlighting some of the more positive effects that the digital age has had on young people.
Digital technology means that a much wider audience is now able to enjoy the art form in an ever increasing capacity, which is especially true of the younger generations.
In so many ways, children have become tainted by overexposure to electronic entertainment, television, video games and the ubiquitous presence of the internet. IRIS-25 uses this experience in a positive way.”  “

We are delighted with the response to this competition,” she adds. “IRIS-25 gives young people the freedom to show what they do with PCs and Macs, expressing themselves practically and creatively.”
