Peter Phillips, LRPS

I attained my Licentiateship in January, 2010 and my images are currently those from my ‘L’ panel. I am a member of RPS Digital Imaging and Visual Art special interest groups and the Kingswood Photographic Society.

My retirement in 2006 gave me the opportunity to devote more time to my passion of photography and image processing.  I was born in Doncaster, Yorkshire. This is where I spent my early years and, living next door to a high street photographer, it is where an interest in photography began during the 50’s and 60’s. A 35mm SLR from Dad (an EDIXA-mat Kadett with 50mm lens, which I still have) and building a B&W darkroom in the cellar, turned my interest into a career. So much so I left the North and ventured south to do a degree in photographic science & engineering at the School of Photography, Regent Street Polytechnic in London, now The University of Westminster.

This education with a ‘systems thinking’ approach to all things photographic and imaging led me to a near-on 40 year career in advanced technology research with BAE Systems in Bristol. I have had the invaluable experience to work on advances in optics, human factors, display technologies, colour perception, colour management systems, IT and computing. This career culminated in me heading up the Systems Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) at Loughborough University.

Thank you for browsing my pictures.
