Thames Valley Centre
Committee Members

Roger Norton LRPS
Centre Organiser
Roger’s interest in photography dates back to his childhood and the influence of his father who was a keen and accomplished amateur photographer. His father gave him a Brownie Reflex when he was about 11 years old, and taught him monochrome darkroom skills from developing negatives to making prints. He achieved the LRPS distinction with monochrome images in 1983 while a member of Molesey Camera Club where he served on committee and as chairman. Now a member of Maidenhead Camera Club, he became the Centre Organiser for the RPS Digital Imaging Group’s Thames Valley Centre about 5 years ago. His main photographic interests are in landscape and travel.

Skypename: alan.f.cross
Alan has been a member of the RPS for over two decades and a member of the DI Group for much of that time. He achieved his 'L' in 2004, and had been promising himself ever since that he would 'soon' try for his 'A'! He joined the Committee of the Thames Valley Centre in 2008, when it was near to closure, and was instrumental in transforming the Centre into the thriving sub-Group it is today.
He served for many years on the committee of the Windsor Photographic Society (including as Chairman), and has been granted Honorary Life Membership in recognition of his work for the Club.
Alan's photography is fairly broad in nature, though he does favour the urban landscape. He also runs a small photographic restoration business.

Janet Barton
Programe Secretary
Janet joined the Thames Valley Centre committee in 2009. After a period of time as Treasurer, she move to the post of Programme Secretary, and has been putting together our very successful programmes of events ever since. She is a member of the Windlesham & Camberley Camera Club, where she serves on the committee also as Programme Secretary.

Carol Drew
Membership Secretary & Secretary

Email Carol (Secretary)
Carol has been passionate about photography ever since her father gave her his old camera when she was eight. She joined the RPS rather later (only 4 years ago) and also joined the committee of the DIG Thames Valley Centre round about the same time, first as an ordinary member, but very soon took on the roles of Secretary and Membership Secretary. She has been an active member of Windlesham and Camberley Camera Club for more than 20 years, and is currently their Treasurer. She wasn’t drawn into the digital world of photography until about 6 years ago, having been a keen B&W darkroom worker. Carol’s photography covers a wide range of subjects, but she still favours moody monochromatic images.

Laurie Pate
General Committee Member
Laurie is a relative newcomer to the RPS, but was involved with photography as an employee of Kodak for 35 years working on technical support, research and development for digital technologies. This was primarily in graphics and the world of printing where there is a strong overlap with photography. Laurie is still active in these fields, where his knowledge and background is proving to be of continued use to industry groups. His main expertise is probably more in the field of colour accurate output for print and monitors rather than as a photographer, but achieves occasional successes at club level.

Mike Reed ARPS
General Committee Member
Mike says: "When I retired 20 years ago I decided that it was time to become computer literate and to ditch my film cameras. I commenced with a Casio 3MP camera and Photoshop 2. Since then a series of upgrades has taken me to the point where I feel digital can equate with film. My enjoyment is in the production of Audio Visual programmes for which I was awarded an Associateship in 2008. I am still actively involved in that field, being the treasurer of Mid Thames AV Group and an active member of Windlesham & Camberley C.C."
