Visual Art
Viveca Koh ARPS
I am entirely self-taught and have been taking photographs since I was a small child. I bought my first SLR in 1982, a secondhand Pentax K1000, later followed by an Olympus OM4-Ti, which incorporated excellent spot metering and really enabled me to get to grips with accurate exposure.
In 2008, after some years of using a compact digital camera, I purchased a Nikon D700 and have not looked back since. This has really renewed my passion for "serious" photography, and with encouragement from friends and colleagues I submitted a panel of ten photographs for a Licentiateship distinction in April 2010, following a very successful advisory day. I was delighted to be awarded the distinction for my panel, which documents birth through to death in a mental asylum.
In June 2011 I was very happy to attain Associateship in the Visual Art category with my panel of fifteen images 'Left Behind', detailing items that remain in abandoned buildings.
I have inlcuded some images from both panels in my portfolio here, but both can be seen in their entirety on my website.
