All those attending Society events are responsible for their own actions. Leaders will, to the best of their knowledge, inform those attending of any dangers or areas that could cause concern. All those aged under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

    Visit to Framlingham Church and Castle

    18th June 13

    Type: Other, Group: Archaeology and Heritage Framlingham is one of the most attractive of the small Suffolk market towns, and our June outing will visit its two main attractions. the church and the castle. The party will meet at the church at 1000. More info

    Visit to Mid-Hants Railway (Watercress Line)

    20th July 13

    Type: Other, Group: Archaeology and Heritage The Watercress Line is one of a number of preserved steam railways operating in the South of England, running 10 miles from Alresford to Alton in Hampshire. On the day of our visit two locomotives will be in steam and running the passenger service, which also calls at two intermediate stations, Ropley, and Medstead & Four Marks, The engine shed is at Ropley, and Medstead & Four Marks is a country station at the summit of the line, once the highest point on the south-east's rail network.     Visit to Hinton Ampner House

    15th August 13

    Type: Other, Group: Archaeology and Heritage Hinton Ampner House (National Trust), the home of Lord Sherborne rebuilt after a major fire in 1960, combines an elegant neo-Georgian exterior with a beautiful and dramatic Georgian interior - Robert Adam fireplaces and recreated ceilings, fine furniture, carpets, paintings and clocks.     Visit to Amberley Working Museum

    14th September 13

    Type: Other, Group: Archaeology and Heritage Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre, contained on a 36 acre site close to the South Downs in Sussex, is devoted to the industrial heritage of the south-east. The diverse collection includes reconstructions of craft workshops, with crafts often demonstrated, a village garage and a bus garage, and transport and industrial artefacts large and small.     Visit to Buddhist Temple, Wimbledon.

    7th November 13

    Type: Other, Group: Archaeology and Heritage The Buddhapadipa Temple in Wimbledon was the first Buddhist temple in the United Kingdom, and is the only Thai Buddhist temple in Europe. It was relocated from Richmond in 1976, and the temple building is contained in 4 acres of peaceful grounds. More info
