Introduction

Open to Members and Non-Members

This is the first level of Distinction awarded. The Licentiateship is open to all members of The Royal Photographic Society. Non-members of The Society may also apply but if they are successful, the Distinction will not be approved until they have become Members.

The Licentiateship is awarded either for competence in practical photography, or by passing an appropriate examination in photography recognised by The Society ( see exemption list )

It is essential for all applicants to read the Distinctions Handbook.

Evidence Requirements: For full details refer to section B of the Distinctions Handbook.

  • Stills photography: 10 prints or 10 slides (sections B4.1 and B4.3 )

  • Digital Images on CD (section B4.2)

  • Book submissions: 20 Images ( Section B4.4 )

  • Research, Education and Application of Photography: Dissertation of approximately 5000 words (Section B7)

Fees: £50 ( First resubmission to same category £25 )
