About this album
The photographic exhibition “Elements” was first held at the gallery Lille Atlier, Lille Øvregate 16, Bergen, Norway in February 2014.
The theme of the exhibition is the square format Black and White photograph highlighting one (or more) of the different elements of composition, including lines, form, shape, texture, patterns, space, symmetry, depth of field, golden ratio and distribution of visual weight.
When I selected the images for the exhibition I tried to vary the subjects (of the photos) as well as the elements of composition that are in use. My main photographic interests relates to architecture, traveling, cityscape (and life in cities), landscapes and nature – and most of the images fall into these categories.
When determining the sequence of presentation of the images on the exhibition (and in the book with the same name), I tried to make a kind of journey (or movie) by having each image retaining a visual element from the preceding one while at the same time bring in a new element.
