Mr Malcolm Balmer

My love of photography started when I was about ten years old and I received a Kodak Instamatic 204 camera for Christmas. I still have the camera. I was hooked. During my time at college I learned darkroom techniques. Post processing a digital image will never give that special feeling that you get when you see an image appear on the paper with the smell of developing chemicals in the air.

My first serious camera was an Olympus OM1n. I still have it and perhaps one day I will buy a film and go down memory lane, and at the end of the shoot wait a week to get the results back.

I am now retired from work and enjoying my photography more than ever. I set myself a personal challenge about a year ago to gain an RPS distinction. This I achieved in March 2019.

I belong to Sherborne Bradford Abbas Camera club and was elected chairman in 2017.
