Mrs Marion Sidebottom

I grew up in the age of exciting documentary programmes such as Life on Earth by David Attenborough and Cosmos by Carl Sagan, which instilled a natural curiosity about our world and the universe we live in. I am fascinated by the cycles of life and the science behind them and am also captivated by the sheer beauty of nature from wide angle landscapes to the tiniest macro in detail. My educational background is an interesting fusion of science and art which influences the way I perceive and interpret the world through my work. I have a degree in Rural Resource Development with Environmental Issues, and a research MA from Writtle College and the University of Essex which was awarded in 2015. My Masters research took me on an incredible virtual journey around the world and through history to the current day via tree photography and helped inform my own photographic practice. In 2017 I was awarded Arts Council England Funding to be the Artist in Residence at City of London's Epping Forest for a year for my project called "You Can't See the Trees for the Woods".

In 2018 I was awarded my Associate Distinction of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS).

I'm available for commission work and can be contacted via my website.
