John Tyler

Member news

It is with much sadness that I have to report the passing of an RPS Life Member, John Tyler, who died peacefully on 31 July 2014.  For many years John was an outstanding member of Bracknell Camera Club and served as Secretary for nine years.  He was also a member of Yateley Camera Club.  His skills with a camera were truly amazing and he obtained his ARPS in 1995 with a stunning set of monochrome images of athletes.

His true love was wide angle people photography. He had a knack of seeing the unusual things in life and documenting the quirky juxtaposition of people in humorous situations.  He always enjoyed his annual visit to Lady’s Day at Royal Ascot and the Notting Hill Carnival.  John was never shy in obtaining his shots and by using a wide angle lens he could stand almost shoulder to shoulder with his subject and they wouldn’t realise he was taking their photograph.

John was always more than willing to help anybody, share his own knowledge widely and encourage everybody to reach their next goal irrespective of whether they were a complete beginner or advanced worker.  He will be very much missed.
