We would like to congratulate RPS member Caroline Silverwood Taylor ARPS, who was has had a photographic print selected for inclusion in the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition.
Caroline is a monochrome film photographer who uses traditional darkroom methods and this is the second time that she has had work selected for the exhibition (she was last included in 2013). Caroline is a member of the Royal Photographic Society Contemporary and Visual Art Groups both of whom have included her pictures in previous exhibitions. She has also had two images selected in past years for our annual International Print Exhibition.
"The photograph chosen for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition is 'Sports Day' from the series Frozen Moments.
The series Frozen Moments plays upon the idea of 'freezing' time. The photographs from the series, which are based upon old family photographs, are quite literally frozen in water and then rephotographed.
The ice itself has significance: it warps and distorts what we see through it just as time warps and distorts memory." Caroline Silverwood Taylor.
You can learn more about Caroline and see further examples of her work here.
The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition is on until the 17th of August 2014.
