The International Photography Awards have announced Category Winners of the 2014 Competition. RPS member Mark Wiseman ARPS was awarded first place in a Nature-Trees Category for his winning entry "A tree in an English field".

This year, IPA received over 27000 submissions from 104 countries across the globe. Mark, from Peterborough, UK, is a professional photographer who declares a passion for all photography and commented to The Society: "I took the image near to Woodnewton village in Northamptonshire. I have passed this tree on numerous occasions as I have taken the children to and from school. I took the image this year as I returned with them as the light conditions and the stormy background were as I wanted. The light from the setting sun would occasionally light the tree with a wonderful soft light and it was then that I was able to take a series of images. In total, I must have only taken 10 bracketed images which I then manually blended in Photoshop CS6."
