We have three Bursaries currently open.  The first one closes this Friday, so make sure you don't miss out!

 

Joan Wakelin Bursary

Closes on Friday the 22nd of May.

Administered by The Society in partnership with the Guardian, the Bursary offers £2000 for the production of a photographic essay on an overseas social documentary issue.

This Bursary remembers Lancashire born photojournalist and Fenton Medalist Joan Wakelin Hon FRPS, who died in 2009 at the age of 75, leaving behind her an impressive body of work.

Applications are open to all, of any age or nationality, and entry is free of charge.

The successful applicant will have their photoessay published in the Guardian and RPS Journal the following Spring (2016).

Environmental Bursary

Closes on Sunday the 31st of May.

Anyone can apply who lives or studies in the United Kingdom with an interest in documentary/editorial/creative photography and the environmental concerns that we face today.

The bursaries provide £3000 to assist with travel expenses, photographic equipment and other project-related costs detailed in the application.  There are two awards available for applicants aged 16-30 and 31+ years.   The winners of both Awards will also be given the opportunity to have a portfolio of their work printed by Metro Imaging.

We look for creative interpretation of the subject as well as documentary and editorial photography.

RPS Postgraduate Bursary

Closes on Tuesday the 30th of June.

As part of The Society’s remit as an educational charity we offer an annual bursary of £3,500 in support of a postgraduate student studying in the UK or abroad. Entries can include digital and traditional photographic media, the art and science of photography and image based written work.

For this bursary photography is interpreted in its widest sense to include digital and traditional photographic media, the art and science of photography and image based written work/research.
