The photographs of the finalists in the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest, which is being held under the auspices of the Russian National Commission for UNESCO, have been revealed by the organizers. Works included in the shortlist were chosen by an international jury led by Jason Eskenazi, a prominent American photographer and a Guggenheim Fellow. The jury comprises world renowned photography experts, including Natalya Udartseva (Russia), founder and director of the Visual Arts School; Andrei Polikanov (Russia), photo service director of the Russky Reporter magazine (until May 2015); Attila Durak (Turkey), co-founder and curator of the FotoIstanbul festival; Grigory Dukor (Russia), chief photographer, CIS, Reuters Limited Moscow Representative; and others.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 3, 2015 in Moscow. The project was instigated by Rossiya Segodnya with the aim of supporting young photographers and raising public awareness of photojournalism. The contest is the only Russian platform where members of the international photography community can be introduced to new names, support and promote the high standards of their profession and shape criteria for the quality of documentary photography in Russia and abroad.
